Uninspired & My Social Media Slump

Hi to all my new readers, oldest and most loyal, and my supporters; today’s post will be a bit more personal. As you can tell by the title of this post, I have been feeling unmotivated and uninspired to produce fresh content and photos. Unfortunately, I’ve been getting these feelings lately about blogging and interacting on social media. This isn’t a “goodbye letter” or “I’m giving up blogging/social media” type of blogpost, I love blogging and social media! This post is just supposed to be an outlet for me to share my thoughts with my fellow bloggers and supporters.

Recently on Instagram the blogger community has been discussing that Instagram is deleting people’s followers, unfollowing people at random, and following random people. I’m not sure whether this is true or not, but if it is; it’s extremely frustrating. I started the summer off with 1,500 followers on my Instagram which I was ecstatic about. My goal for the end of the summer was to reach 2,000 followers on my Instagram. To possibly gain followers and viewers, I posted many blogposts and quality photos on my Instagram and blog. I even hosted two of my own t-shirt giveaways to give back to my awesome followers. After my giveaways, I lost tons of followers. I had reached 1,860 followers by the end of the summer and continually lost them decreasing my amount to 1,700. For every one follower that I get, I feel like I lose three. Most of my followers are incredible; commenting sweet things on my posts, interacting with me on my Instagram Story, or checking out my blog. Thank you to the followers who motivate me to inspire others and share my thoughts on the world.

Another thing I’ve been noticing lately is what content bloggers and instagrammers are publishing. It’s all the same Lilly Pulitzer (which I love), Vineyard Vines (which I also love), and staged photos all the time. I believe that quality photos make for better Instagram posts and blogposts. I also do believe that people should be original. Sometimes I find myself doubting my work because I feel like I should be posting what everyone else is posting. I’m not going to lie, but there’s some days that I don’t get out of my pajamas! Lately I’ve been feeling like many bloggers post the same content and that it expected of everyone. In the back of my mind, I totally understand that it isn’t, but I like to live up to expected standards.

Thank you for reading today’s post and it’s one I will probably never write again. I’m not sure if this is just me or all of the blogger community, but these have been my feelings lately and it’s time for them to change! I’m excited to get back into the swing of things and get the ball rolling again!
